Summer NRCS Student Trainee

As part of your internship, students will spend time assisting NRCS field office staff in providing conservation planning and technical assistance to farmers, ranchers, other types of landowners, and local government officials. Students will learn about natural resource management strategies as our technical specialists recommend ways to conserve soil, improve water quality and quantity, manage nutrients, protect, and enhance wildlife habitat, and help improve the producer’s operation. You will interact with specialists such as Conservation Planners, Agronomists, Engineers, Managers, and other NRCS staff. Students will also learn about and assist NRCS staff incorporate the various federal cost-share programs that provide financial assistance to help local producers implement important conservation practices. To accomplish this, a combination of both office and field work activities will be part of the internship experience.
